Founded by Tim McCready in late 2013 Toronto's best live band karaoke experience is a super-tight band featuring guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, and plays a massive repertoire of over 250 songs spanning genres and eras. From our very 1st show at the Hoxton on Dec 5th 2013, we've now played #984 shows as of Feb 25th 2023! We're quickly approaching show #1000! From Aerosmith and Nirvana to Taylor Swift, The Killers, Amy Winehouse, the Tragically Hip and everything in between, we play and YOU sing. And unlike traditional, Japanese “empty orchestra” canned karaoke, we provide a real, live rock’n’roll experience. It’s a bit terrifying, hugely exhilarating and completely awesome! Now into our 9th year together, GELK is like your own personal cover band and will make sure your onstage experience is a slamming success. You’ve considered all the trendy team-building activities - the paintball quests and axe-throwing fests now it’s time to sing onstage with Toronto's best live karaoke band and have an incredible, unforgettable event. |
How it works…
Singing with Good Enough is as easy as scanning the song list, picking a song you love and daring to get on stage with us. Lyrics are provided on an iPad on a music stand. And we will cue you in and sing back up when necessary.
It may seem daunting, but unlike a prerecorded karaoke track, singing live to a band gives you more flexibility in case you lose your timing or forget lyrics. That’s what makes the live band karaoke experience with Good Enough Live Karaoke so special. It adapts to you and your abilities. And even better it's suitable for all-ages!
You might be okay. You might be fantastic. Either way, we will make sure you’re Good Enough and have an outstanding event.

How it started…
Good Enough Live Karaoke features a versatile group of professional musicians each with their own eclectic tastes in music who have spent the past seven + years together making people happy as Toronto's PREMIER live band karaoke experience!
Tim McCready formed the band on a whim with two week’s notice in late November 2013 when the sound-tech at The Hoxton called him looking for a karaoke band for an Ad Agency Holiday Party. Tim called up his old friends Jesse Bellon to play guitar, and Craig Mailman to play bass, and recruited a session drummer. In rehearsals they threw together a 40-song repertoire practicing at breakneck speed until a song sounded “good enough.”
Over the following years more and more professional musicians have been added to the band membership roster, at one point reaching 17 active members drawing from the same 250 song repertoire, but ALWAYS performing as a 4 or 5 piece band. The song list has EXPLODED fluctuating between 250 and 400 songs! Tim and the rest of GELK have logged thousands of hours of stage time together, playing over 800 shows (3 hours per show) since their first gig at the Hoxton on Dec 6th 2013!
They continue to thrill audiences at their popular monthly gigs at the Gladstone Hotel , Drake Hotel, Junction City Music Hall, Jasper Dandy (RIP), Dougie's in Guelph and Rec Room locations around Ontario including Toronto, Mississauga, London and Barrie. Their frequent out-of-town shows at Heartwood Concert Hall in Owen Sound, and Queens Bar in Port Elgin are always sold out days in advance. The crowds at each venue include a slew of regulars who, enamoured with the thrill of being onstage, have become addicted to great times with Good Enough Live Karaoke!
The 3 years leading up to the pandemic (2017 to 2019) were epic for the band, playing over 200 shows per year, with Tim and Jenn often booking and scheduling 2x or 3x different 4-piece versions of the band playing different locations in a single night!
Summer 2018 saw appearances at the Mariposa and Boots & Hearts Festivals as well as a repeat visit to the Markham Fair. For the third year in a row, the band also played an epic seven-day residency at Mongrel Media's funhouse at the Toronto International Film Festival - following the success of 2016 appearances, which included singers like Oscar-winning director Atom Egoyan, the iconic Mary Margaret O'Hara and Cityline's Tracy Moore. The band has played a slew of weddings, milestone birthdays and corporate conventions in places like the Liberty Grand for 750 guests, Sheraton Centre, Toronto Congress Center in addition to private office parties where we provide everything including the PA system, or massive team-building events for associates of Boston Consulting and FreshBooks.
The 2020 pandemic delivered a brand new concept and band side-project Good Enough Karaoke Duo, a 2-piece version of GELK featuring Tim McCready on guitar, keys and drum machine with Esti Friedman on bass. They played their debut show on Friday March 13th 2021 at Heartwood Concert Hall in Owen Sound, and are currently scheduled to perform at the Queen's Bar in Port Elgin on Friday August 6th and return to Heartwood Concert Hall on Saturday August 7th 2021.
